Colour:- Mainly green or maroon.

  • The photo above shows the first road roller based on the 6NHP traction engine, built by Marshalls for the newly created Gainsborough Urban District Council.
  • This model became known as the slide valve roller.
  • It was replaced by the S Type steam road roller in 1924 which had piston valves.
