Cornish Type Boilers

Production Years:-  1880s to 1950s

Price New:- In 1888 £60 – £294

The name originates from their use in the Cornish tin mines and it was originally invented by Richard Trevethick in 1812.

Distinguishable from the Lancashire boiler in that they have only one internal circular flue and one end door.

They required extensive brickwork and a chimney stack.

Lancashire Type Boilers

The name originates from their use in the Lancashire cotton mills and it was originally invented by William Fairburn in 1844.

Distinguishable from the Cornish boiler in that they have two internal circular flues and two end doors.

They required extensive brickwork and a chimney stack.
